As you know, dear readers, j’adore travel…especially when it brings me new fashion friends–and even more so when I can introduce them to all of you in Santa Fe. On my last walkabout in Miami, where I fled to escape the junipers and their devil spawn pollen, I was literally stopped by the windows of a store in the Design District. Thankfully, the store was open and I was saved from a charge of breaking and entering. The store? MRKT Duex http://www.mrktdeux.com/
Sooooo…it was a total swoon fest for me, and as you can imagine I had to at least virtually see their new location in the Miami Design District, 3824 NE 2ND Avenue, the moment I’d heard they had a new custom-made pad. For starters, they carry the brands that real curators of hip styles are on to–names like Raf Simons (remember him, that quiet guy that ran a little brand called Dior up until a few months ago when he broke their hearts and became single?); Acne Studios, JW Anderson, PublicStudios, Tim Coppens, Yeezy, Vetements, Jil Sander and Y3 (yep, of Yohji Yamamoto fame). Is that my pounding heart making that racket?
Owned by Dune Ivan, Adam Smith, and Julian Binger, they created the perfect environ to showcase this massive multi-brand unisex satorial talent. And, as if that wasn’t enough, these guys are those hybrid beings you thought of as an urban myth: they are hip AND nice. I know, I know, you don’t think those things evah-go-togetha, but when the stars align, they do. I know. We all ate potato chips and drank wine out of plastic cups. You know things after that. You just do.
Now I know you a lot of Santa Fe Street’s fanclub go to Miami, so you be sure to stop by and see the guys. Let them shower you with their insider knowledge and introduce you to looks that will work anywhere in the world. And, in the meantime, I’ll work on getting them here for a show. You’re welcome.
